K-Line/G-Line Information
The following information applies to all EFNet servers. We do not kline without a proper reason. To find out why you were klined from our server, or from other EFNet servers please read the following information very carefully, and if you still have questions you may contact us.
What is a K:line? What is a G:line? A K:line is a ban from an individual IRC server. A G:line is a global ban accross the whole network, which prevents you from connecting to almost all client servers on EFNet.
Many klines are not targeted at individual users. However, to insure that the abusive user is properly banned from our server sometimes we must ban an entire ISP. This might seem unreasonable, but one person can easily ruin it for everyone using the same ISP. If you are unsure on why you are klined from our server, this is probably the reason.
What else causes me/my host to be klined from irc.choopa.net?
Drones - Drones are automated processes or bots usually running on hacked, or compromised systems. They are most often used in floodnets, or another type of DDoS attack. If you are klined because of "Drones" it is most likely that your system has been compromised. To check and clean your system please visit: http://www.hackfix.org and http://www.irchelp.org/security
Infected Client or Trojan - This means that your client has been infected with a trojan or a virus and more than likely your client is spreading the virus around the network without you knowing. We klined you to stop the spread of the virus. Join #dmsetup on EFNet for help, or visit the two websites above.
Spam - This means that you, or someone on your ISP is involved in spam. This could mean that you have an on join msg in a public channel, or you are harassing clients with useless information. If you are sure that you are not doing it, your system could be infected with at trojan.
Clones - This simply means that you have more connections from the same user@host than allowed. Currently the maximum is 4 on irc.choopa.net. This is a temporary 1440 minute (24 hour) kline.
